Come with us!

Driving from Szeged you are welcomed by the compelling building of Hotel Korona where a conference and services centre is operated. Just opposite you can see the neobaroque Bérpalota, the most representative residential building in the town. Below its balconies you can find the second largest swallow colony of Central Europe. Walking through the main square you can find the Town Hall which used to be the seat of Csanad County.

Based on the plans of Imre Makovecz a new cultural centre, the Onion House has been built in Makó. In the summer you can enjoy the shows of the Operett Festival and the Makó Music. Today the number of the audience is more than 3000 people.

After a long walk in the town we suggest you to visit the Thermal Bath. A relaxing environment and many pools offer a nice experience for bathers and those wanting to have a cure treatment. For more information please visit www.makogyogyfurdo.hu.

You may also visit the surrounding villages around Makó. You can find the most beautiful rotunda of the country in Kiszombor, which has been built in Roman style in the 13th century. Just 12 kms from Makó lies Óföldeák with the unique Roman Catholic church built around 1400. In the 15th century a wall around the church has been built which makes the church even more interesting.

Makó is also an ideal place to make one day tours to Arad, Timisoara and Subotica either by car or by bus. Because of the closeness of the border, Makó is an excellent place to organize conferences and businessmen meetings with Hungarian, Romanian and Serbian participants. The Korona Conference Centre is a perfect place to organize conferences as it is air-conditioned, accessible by the disabled and there are excellent technical conditions.

The Pulitzer Student Hostel can accommodate students and groups above 20 people in a nice environment yet at a low price. The closeness of the Körös-Maros National Park makes an excellent opportunity to discover the fauna of the swampy fields and to examine the area from the look-out tower. All in all, Makó is a liveable town with excellent programme opportunities (Operett Festival, Makó Music, Bath Festival, Onion Festival, Haverock Party- Rockfestival), great climate and friendly environment and therefore is suitable to make even a one week stay for the whole family or friends.
